5 Songs You Have to Listen to From Ben&Ben in Time for Wanderland 2020

One of the performers that people are excited for in this year’s Wanderland is Ben&Ben, a Filipino indie-folk band that OPM fanatics definitely know and love. The group is known for its love songs — with their pieces exploring the different feelings and stages related to love, romance and, of course, heartache. Ben&Ben also has a very distinct sound, one that you’ll recognize immediately.

While the band’s discography is definitely a must-listen, here are some of the songs you can start on:

Kathang Isip

Kathang Isip is a song that resonates with a lot of people — it being about unrequited love. This is also their first pieces written in Tagalog. The response to this song was so positive that Kathang Isip eventually became Ben&Ben’s most streamed on Spotify.

Maybe The Night

Used as a soundtrack for the movie Exes Baggage, Maybe The Night is one of Ben&Ben’s most known releases. In an interview, one of the band members shared that the song is about the moments that you share with your beloved and irrepressible need to preserve them. Powerful, emotional, and unforgettable, you’ll definitely feel a little bit melancholic after a listen.

Pagtingin

Another one about unrequited love. Pagtingin is perfect for those who have yet to confess their feelings, which Filipinos know all too well due to torpe culture. If you’re afraid to express your love for your beloved, maybe this song will finally convince you to take the plunge.

Leaves

It’s rare that sadness and hope meet in one song, but Ben&Ben has made that possible with Leaves. While there is a gentle feeling of melancholy in the melody, there is also an undertone of hope quietly whispering that maybe everything will be alright.

Ride Home

Ben&Ben’s Ride Home solidified the band’s sound — a sound that consists of “Filipino and Western folk, world, and pop elements.” With the band’s unique style, it’s no wonder that Ride Home rose to the top in Spotify’s Philippines Viral 50 Chart. What’s not to love in this catchy song about finding home in someone you love?
