Fans of Blackpink (collectively known as Blinks) rejoice on social media as telco giant Globe gave away 1000 tickets to the K-Pop girl group’s highly-anticipated virtual event called “The Show.”
Last Friday, January 22, Globe staged an event intended to pay homage to the girls of Blackpink, its newest brand ambassadors. Dubbed “The Opening Act,” the show featured skylight displays using drones that lit the skies with a drone show.
But the event did not go as planned after the organizers of the show faced a series of unforeseen circumstances during the show. While the drones normally functioned hours before the start of the show, the satellite signals suddenly began fluctuating. This prompted a total of 20 drones to fail working when the event commenced.
The circumstances forced the contractors of the show to segmentize the program into different parts and immediately act on the situation by rebooting the drone systems in an attempt to save the show. Despite repeated efforts, the organizers of the show had to halt the event at around 8:35 PM.
As a way of thanking fans who eagerly waited for the show, Globe released a statement announcing the giveaway of a total of 1,000 tickets to the virtual event of the global superstars this January 31.
“Due to circumstances that are beyond our control, we will need to shift our gears and reschedule The Opening Act to a later date. To express our appreciation for all of you who stayed with us tonight, we will be giving away 1000 The Show tickets so you can catch the girls live on January 31,” Globe said in its statement.
Meanwhile, fans filled social media with glee following the great news from Globe.
Composed of the members, Lisa, Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo, Blackpink is the girl group behind hits “How You Like That,” “BOOMBAYAH,” “Pretty Savage,” and “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du.”
