Introducing Starbucks’ New Plant-based Food Items

Starbucks Philippines have added 3 new plant-based food items on their menu, but they’re only available for a limited time. This follows suit with other chains that have also rolled out plant-based options like Burger King’s Whooper and Shakey’s Goood Burger. With more Filipinos being concerned about their health and the planet, it’s nice to see food businesses taking notes and offering alternatives for vegetarians and vegans.

As stated on their website, the coffee giant’s effort to introduce more plant-based options is inspired by their commitment to being a sustainable company.

BBQ Mochi Bun (P85)

If you’re a fan of anything BBQ flavored, you can’t pass up on this snack. The baked mochi has a sweet plant-based filling that’s encased in a soft, airy, and chewy bun.

Classic Lasagna (P195)

Another vegetarian-friendly option on the menu is a pasta dish that anyone can appreciate. You won’t even miss the meat as the lasagna sheets are layered with a plant-based Bolognese and dairy-free cheese.

Mince Roll (P95)

This roll of buttery goodness is the only vegan-friendly option of the three. Inside the flaky crust is a plant-based ground patty that’s seasoned with Italian spices and a creamy “cheese” sauce. Even Instagram foodie, @masarapba agrees that it’s comparable to the real thing.

Blissfully Balanced Blends

Starbucks also released new beverages that go well with the plant-based food items. The Manuka Honey Ginger Black Tea can be enjoyed hot or iced, and uses real New Zealand Manuka Honey, while the Smoked Butterscotch Latte can be served hot, iced, or as a Frappuccino. Both drinks bring feelings of warmth and comfort, perfect for the current weather.
