Not satisfied with Joss Whedon’s Justice League? Going crazy thinking about what could’ve been if Zack Snyder didn’t step away from the film in the middle of production? Are you one of the thousands of fans that have been begging Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut ever since the movie premiered? Well, you’re in luck, because we’re finally getting exactly that!
Warner Bros. just announced that they will be releasing Zack Snyder’s Justice League this March 18 on HBO Max. Snyder himself has also been promoting it on all his social media.
Originally planned to be a miniseries cut into four parts, the Snyder Cut will now be released as a full-length feature with a runtime of approximately four hours. “It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” Snyder said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Snyder also said that the original theatrical version – full of Joss Whedon’s reshoots and changes in creative direction – was only probably only a fourth of what he had done for the movie before leaving production.
What’s the Snyder Cut?
Zack Snyder was the original director of the long-awaited movie where we first see DCEU’s take on the iconic superhero ensemble. However, because of a family tragedy, Snyder had to hand the reins over to Joss Whedon.
When Justice League finally premiered back in 2017, it flopped both in the Box Office and critic’s reviews.
Many fans believed that Whedon, who also directed The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, simply failed to capture the charm of D.C.’s beloved heroes and blamed him for the film’s failure. Their solution to this? Die-hard D.C. fans took to social media with #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, insisting that Snyder’s vision for the movie is one that would actually live up to the Justice League they want.
Well, those calls finally paid off because they were evidently persistent enough that Warner Bros. heard them and, alongside Snyder, are finally giving them what they want.
Will it be available in the Philippines?
While the movie comes out in the U.S. on HBO Max on March 18, it will also be available here in the Philippines on the same day. You can stream it on HBO GO.
