After her standout performance as the beloved Princess Diana in Netflix’s powerhouse show, The Crown, people have been wondering what’s next for Emma Corrin. Well, it looks like the star is continuously on the rise because the 25-year-old just landed a role with global heartthrob Harry Styles.
According to Deadline.com, the duo is set to star in Amazon Studio’s My Policeman. Based on the acclaimed novel of the same name, the romantic drama will be set in the 1990’s when the arrival of an elderly invalid named Patrick into Marion (Corrin) and Tom (Styles)’s home, triggers the exploration of seismic events from 40 years previous: the passionate relationship between Tom and Patrick at a time when homosexuality was illegal. Sounds juicy, right?
This announcement rides on the high of Corrin’s Golden Globe and SAG awards nominations for her portrayal as Lady Di. While her acting stint as the famous royal impressed fans and critics alike, she is set to pass the baton to fellow British actress Elizabeth Debicki. The Crown is known to regularly recast the roles of everyone on the show as the royals’ ages advance.
While Styles may be known for his music superstardom, this isn’t his first rodeo in the thespian world. Styles previously starred in Christopher Nolan’s war movie Dunkirk, and is currently filming Olivia Wilde’s film, Don’t Worry Darling. Coincidentally, his role in Don’t Worry Darling is also of a husband to an unhappy wife, played by Florence Pugh of Midsommar fame. Maybe he has found his acting niche?
The production of My Policeman is set to begin this year’s spring or summer. As Amazon Studios is producing the film, it may be possible for it to go straight to video-on-demand. Fans of both Corrin and Styles will surely be in for a treat!
