Watch This Disturbing True Crime Documentary Coming Soon to Netflix

Netflix is back with another true-crime thriller, titled Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. The documentary miniseries will go over the harrowing events that led up to the highly publicized case of Elisa Lam, who was staying at the infamous downtown LA Cecil Hotel at the time of her death.

Joe Berlinger, creator of The Ted Bundy Tapes, heads this four-part series that focuses on Lam’s mysterious disappearance at the Cecil as well as the hotel’s dark and bloody past.

In 2013, Canadian tourist Elisa Lam checked into the Cecil Hotel for a solo vacation trip. Weeks later, she was found dead in a water tank, completely naked.

The death soon became a riddle for investigators and Internet detectives alike, as questions arose of how she got there in the first place. Footage of her behaving erratically in the elevator beforehand only served to confuse and spook the public more.

The Cecil, at this point in time, had already been known for its eerie background. Aside from being a home to prostitution and drug rings, it was also home to a number of suicides and murders.

Famed Los Angeles serial killer Richard Ramirez, who was the focus of Netflix true-crime documentary Night Stalker, was known to reside at the Cecil and would often walk in after having just committed a murder.

Jack Unterweger, who was fond of killing prostitutes, was also a Cecil resident. Elizabeth Short, or more famously known as the “Black Dahlia”, reportedly stayed at the Cecil right before her grisly murder.

Though the details of the case and footage of Elisa Lam have been out for public viewing for many years, the case itself has remained largely unsolved. What’s left is a myriad of questions and a legacy of one of the most “haunted” hotels in Los Angeles.

The series is slated to premier on February 10, so don’t miss out on the chance to learn more about one of the most bizarre cases in recent history.
