It seems like a fever dream, but the “Longest Shoe in The World” is very real.
In the past, Adidas has seen its fair share of ridiculous releases, but the outcome of their recent collaboration with Estonian rapper Tommy Cash (or TOMM¥ €A$H) might be their most outlandish one yet. Coming in contrasting colors, this Adidas Superstars pair measures a full meter long.
On Instagram, Cash posted a few fits of what’s now being called the most stylish “clown shoes,” and briefly explained how the pair came to be:
“WHEN I SAID TO ADIDAS THAT I WANT TO MAKE THE LONGEST SHOE IN THE WORLD AS OUR COLLAB THEY WERE LIKE WTF TOMMY. BUT 5 MONTHS LATER HERE WE ARE.”
The shoe also features on the heel a laser-engraved signature of Cash, while the insole shows a Yin-Yang design, which serves as the theme of the sportswear giant’s and the rapper’s collaboration.
“Both the ‘angel’ and the ‘devil’ live in me at the same time – two opposites that are constantly fighting with each other,” Cash shared to NME regarding the design. “So why hide one side of your personality when they can perfectly coexist with each other? Shouldn’t be too good or too bad. Balance is needed.”
“As two opposites of Yin and Yang, forming one whole. Yes, these sneakers are different colours. After all, they reflect my mood, which changes every day. And I will proudly wear both versions of the iconic silhouette at the same time,” he added.
Luckily, according to Dazed, the pair is a one-off made exclusively for Cash. The real collaborative piece was released days later: a regular-sized “Yin-Yang” Adidas Superstars consisting of one black and one white shoe per pair. Sadly, the pair is only having a limited release in Russia through a raffle on the Adidas app.
Now that we think about it, it’s timely that Adidas released a super-long shoe during the pandemic. How else can we ensure physical distancing if not with these meter-long creps?
