The Best Shoes to Pair with Flared Jeans

The Best Shoes to Pair with Flared Jeans

Quarantine fashion consisted of a lot of laid-back styles like athleisure wear and baggier fits. If you haven’t already heard, Gen Z’s are throwing out skinny jeans and are taking us back to Y2K. And while you’re entitled to wear whatever you want, they might be on to something with the comeback of flared jeans. The key to pulling off the look is to find the right shoes to pair with them.

White Sneakers

You can never go wrong with a pair of white sneakers. It’s a shoe every girl should have and goes well with just about any outfit, including flared jeans. Look through your capsule wardrobe for a cropped top and a bucket hat (another Gen Z favorite) to build your outfit.

Strapped Heels

Contrast the loose fit of your flared jeans with strapped heels. They’re an office-appropriate attire that you could also wear to the bar for happy hour, a.k.a. perfect day to night outfit. A black-colored top is always a safe choice.

Mules

For those who want to look dressed-up but don’t want to deal with the straps, mules are the way to go. A tip from Giles Farnham, head of River Island’s Style Studio: complement the wide silhouette with round-toe shoes and avoid slightly pointier, narrow shoes so they don’t get drowned out in your jeans.

Platforms

Give the illusion of longer legs when you wear platforms with that wide-legged pants. You don’t want the cuff of your jeans being dragged on the floor, anyway. Not only do they add height, but they also have added comfort thanks to the thicker soles.

Ankle Boots

Who What Wear recommends taking your ankle boots to the streets with a dark-washed flare and a modern blazer. If you’re feeling a little bolder, deconstructed two-toned pants paired with ankle boots will be a show-stopping outfit.

None

Even before Gen Z called out Millennials for their love of skinny jeans, many of us have already retired those stiff denim for something more comfortable like a buttery pair of leggings or silky lounge pants. Hopefully, you’ll give flared jeans a fair chance.
