Adidas is taking a step towards a green direction by reimagining the iconic Stan Smith. They’re reimagining the classic white court sneaker to become more sustainable by using PRIMEGREEN upper made with 50% recycled materials and a recycled rubber outsole to help end plastic waste. Part of their Forever product line is their collaboration with Disney that brings Green characters like Kermit the Frog and Yoda to life in this eco-friendly collection.
It’s Not Easy Being Green
Who better to lead Adidas’ sustainability campaign than the beloved Muppets star, Kermit the Frog? On the reimagined Stan Smith, Kermit’s name is embossed on the heel with his portrait printed on the left tongue. You’ll also find him on two other designs, one with a pink tongue (probably as an allusion to his co-star, Miss Piggy) and the other one having an all-over Kermit print.
Other famous characters you can find in the Adidas x Disney Green collection is Yoda from Star Wars, Marvel’s Groot and the Hulk, Wall-E, Tinkerbell, Mike Wazowski from Monster’s Inc., and Rex the dinosaur from Toy Story. Each pair is unique with the design referencing the respective character. You won’t be able to miss the graphic outsoles, embossed details, bold graphics, and playful prints.
End Plastic Waste
In the promotional ad for Stan Smith, Forever, Kermit, and Stan Smith, the man behind the namesake, redefine what a sustainable sneaker can be as they move towards an eco-friendlier construction starting in 2021. The iconic sneakers also include co-branded sock liners, an extra pair of laces, and have “It’s Not Easy Being Green” embossed across both heel tabs. Even doing little things end up making a big difference and this is one way Adidas is contributing to that change.
The collection is available for purchase at adidas.com/stansmith and Adidas stores worldwide. Prices start at P4,800 in Philippine stores.
