Selena Gomez’s New Tattoo Might Inspire You to Finally Get Inked

Selena Gomez just got another tattoo and it’s a symbol of the cross near her left collarbone. There’s no trace of her latest tattoo on her own Instagram page, but Bang Bang Tattoos gave us a quick peek. Although the singer/actress doesn’t claim to be religious, she has been open about her faith. This fresh ink brings her dainty tattoos to a total of 15, and it might inspire you to get one, too.

Behind the Cross

In an interview with Vogue, Gomez says she’s been a Christian for a while now. “I just want to make it clear that I love being able to have my faith, and believe in what I believe in, and that truly is what gets me through.” That’s probably why she chose to have it inked somewhere near her heart. The delicate cross was inked by her go-to artist, Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy of Bang Bang Tattoos in New York City.

More Spiritual Tattoos

It’s not uncommon to have your favorite Bible verse inked and Gomez opted to have “God strengthens me” on her upper thigh. The quote can be found in Philippians 4:13 which reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” On her other leg, she has a tattoo of praying hands with a rosary, which she revealed at the 2019 American Music Awards.

Small, but Meaningful

Gomez seems to have a penchant for minimalist tattoos that are meaningful to her. Some of her other inks include the word “Rare” on her neck, which refers to her third studio album and her make-up line Rare Beauty. She also has matching arrow tattoos with a friend and fellow musician Julia Michaels and got a music note as her first tattoo.

If you were looking for a sign to get your skin permanently etched, this could be it. Whether you want something random or meaningful inked like Selena Gomez, a small and simple design is ideal for your first tattoo. It’s easy to hide and generally less painfully.
