The Office of the Vice President launched a teleconsultation service as an initiative to decongest hospitals in the NCR+ Bubble. Following the overwhelming response to the Bayanihan E-Konsulta program, they realized most patients doing home isolation didn’t have the equipment to monitor their symptoms. They then sent out COVID Care Kits with medicines, medical supplies, a monitoring sheet, and instructions to positive patients.
Monitoring Sheet Draft
While under quarantine at home, patients are expected to monitor their oxygen and temperature in the morning, at noon, and in the evening for the next 14 days. They are also expected to observe their symptoms and check them off the monitoring sheet. Severe symptoms, like shortness of breath, should be reported immediately.
The medicine comes with instructions regarding how many they should take and the proper time to take them. These should only be used to combat the symptoms and will not germs or the virus.
- Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride/Chlorphenamine Maleate 325g – For colds accompanied with nasal congestion
- Paracetamol – For fevers and pain relief
- Carbocisteine – For coughs with phlegm
- Cetirizine – For allergies and itching
- Butamirate – For dry coughs (without phlegm)
- Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) – To help prevent dehydration
- Hexetidine Gargle – To help relieve sore throats
- Vitamin C + Zinc, Calcium + Vitamin D3 – Supplements for recovery
Medical Gadgets and Supplies
The tools needed to monitor their symptoms are included in the COVID Care Kit. Detailed instructions on how to use the gadgets are also provided.
- Digital thermometer – To monitor their temperature every 4-8 hours
- Face Mask – To prevent the spread of the virus
- Pulse Oximeter – To monitor oxygen levels
- Disinfectant – To sanitize high-touch surfaces
- Alcohol – For disinfecting and hand hygiene
- Waste Disposal Bag – To properly dispose of items used by the patient
Aside from being delivered with a COVID Care Kit, Vice President Leni Robredo stated that someone will check in with the patient via phone call twice a day. This will help them better monitor their symptoms.
