When in Los Angeles, there’s nothing like visiting iconic landmarks such as the Hollywood sign, and of course, the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. From Audrey Hepburn to Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg to Michael Bublé, a lot of household names have their names permanently immortalized in the streets of Los Angeles.
Well, it looks like a Filipino will join the ranks of these famous names soon. Yes, Filipino-American rapper apl.de.ap and his chart-topping group Black Eyed Peas will receive their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as per ABS-CBN News Online.
The Pampanga native, whose full name is Allan Pineda Lindo, will receive the honor alongside his bandmates will.i.am, Taboo, and Jessica Reynoso aka J Rey Soul.
There’s no date yet as to when their star ceremony will take place, but as per the organizers, it must be set within two years of the announcement. It looks like we might have to wait a bit, but isn’t this exciting?!
Aside from the Black Eyed Peas, other famous musicians such as DJ Khaled, Avril Lavigne, Ashanti and Nipsey Hussle are set to have their own stars, too.
This accolade is an awesome addition to their list of accomplishments, which includes awards from prestigious award-winning bodies such as American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the Grammys and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Despite being a global music sensation, Apl.de.ap has been very active in the local showbiz scene. He was a judge on the Philippine edition of “The Voice Teens 2”, and in 2019 he and Black Eyed Peas performed during the closing ceremonies of the Southeast Asian Games. He’s also been active in promoting Filipino culture in other countries. It’s nice to know he never forgot where he came from.
