After staying for almost two months in Australia, Catriona Gray had to say goodbye to her parents to go back to work.
The 27-year-old beauty queen shared about how she felt before boarding the plane through an emotional Instagram post. Along with a “raw and real” photo of herself in tears at the airport, she wrote, “What saying goodbye looks like.”
“When I said goodbye to my parents at the airport, underneath my mask I kept smiling. Although it trembled. I didn’t want them to see. We hugged, saying ‘see you soon.’ But this pandemic makes a once easy thing such an uncertainty… When?… How? When will we be together again?”
Catriona said that she was only able to let her tears spill when her parents could no longer see her. “I felt the emotions spilling over but didn’t want them to see, so as I rounded the corner through the passenger terminal finally out of their sight, I let the tears come.”
“I contemplated whether or not to post this. But this is something raw and real. I’m so grateful for the time I had with my family. And now it’s back to counting down the days, the sunrises, the sleeps until we’re together again.”
She told her followers to cherish spending time with their family, especially now that many people are separated from their loved ones due to the pandemic. “Please never take time with your family or loved ones for granted, so many of us wish to have that reality everyday.”
Catriona is currently in Singapore for the first time to work on new projects. In an Instagram Stories post, she shared that she had a “full day of shooting” on June 27, 2021. She also teased fans with a behind-the-scenes photo for “SupermodelMe,” a reality series from Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore featuring aspiring models of Asian heritage.
