And that’s how you become the MVP outside the hard court!
As seen on actress Yassi Pressman’s Instagram post on Saturday, May 30, Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard was among those who contributed a significant sum of financial donations for the speedy recovery of the fire-stricken Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
Pressman, who herself donated to the state hospital’s cause, thanked the baller for the “generous amount” he pitched in. Though she didn’t disclose the exact amount, Pressman shared that Lillard’s donation helped bring the total amount of their financial assistance to over P1 million.
“Huuuuge thanks to big brother @DamianLillard for sending over such a generous amount, kahit na wala siya sa Pilipinas, just to be able help,” Pressman said.
In her post, she also detailed how the country’s premier health facility manages to stay afloat through the charity and hard work of all nurses, volunteers, and staff following the catastrophic fire that hit one of the buildings along Taft Avenue last May 16.
Though there were no casualties, PGH posted over PhP50 million worth of damage to property, including several pieces of medical equipment and facilities.
“Coming to PGH made me deeply appreciate all the nurses, the volunteers, the staff and the mission of the hospital,” the Ang Probinsyano star fondly wrote.
”80% of the patients that are checked in, are taken care of for free. They perform close to 30,000 surgeries a year charitably. It was really heartbreaking seeing all of the infants, sobrang saludo po ako sa lahat ng mga tumulong.
Aside from Lillard, Pressman also thanked Ang Probinsyano party-list representative Ronnie Ong and the Philippine General Hospital Foundation Inc.
Lillard had already visited the Philippines twice: once in 2014 to attend a basketball clinic, and in 2016 as part of Adidas’ Take On Summer tour.
