Since it was first announced, netizens have been hyped about Netflix’s animated adaptation of the Filipino graphic novel Trese. Now that it has dropped on the mega popular content streaming service, Pinoys have been raving about it incessantly. Likewise, there has been a lot of drama regarding the Tagalog dubbing as well.
Whether or not you’re on the Trese hype train, one cannot deny that it has already made an impact, especially for Filipino animation. However, People all over the internet have been divisive about famous actress Liza Soberano’s participation in the project. In fact, some people have already reimagined the titular character as played by other equally famous actresses.
A popular choice of which is Glaiza de Castro. The Encantadia and Liway actress is known to play a lot of ferocious and buttkicking roles, which is why she’s become a favorite alternative among Pinoys.
Taking this even further, a netizen named Kuina Hikari on Facebook edited footage of the new show using de Castro’s voice. This video has garnered over 160,000 views as of June 17, which is pretty impressive knowing the fan-made video was released only last June 14. It has nearly 7,000 reactions as well.
Watch the clip for yourself to judge if you think de Castro would be a better fit for Trese.
De Castro has yet to comment on the fan-made video, and Soberano has yet to give her two cents on the clip as well. Be that as it may, it’s just awesome that people have been so passionate about the new Netflix series. Let’s hope that Trese is only the first among Filipino original material to be adapted in the platform. It’d be amazing to see more Filipinos bring pride to the country with their art.
