“We know that many people access Instagram from their computer,” an Instagram spokesperson said. “To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser.”
To see if you can try this new feature yourself, head to Instagram in your browser and look for a new “plus” icon in the icon tray on the top right. Take note though that the test isn’t available to everyone and it only allows users to create posts for the main feed.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who can try out this feature, the same built-in settings from the app can be used to edit. The user can then place a caption and adjust the comment settings before posting. It’s the tech giant’s first time allowing its users to post outside the app.
While there is no official announcement as to the full rollout of this new feature, it’s still a step towards that direction. Why is Instagram testing this out anyway? Apparently, amid the pandemic, more people have been scrolling through the gram on their computers.
It looks like Instagram is on a roll. The mega-famous social media platform recently included a safety DM feature, displaying people’s preferred pronouns, and even hiding ‘like counts.’ However, a lot of interesting features like Instagram Music aren’t available yet in the country.
One step at a time, right? A lot of people have been spending a ton of time on social media amid the pandemic, so the more cool features, the better, right?
