Automatic Centre, one of the Philippines’ oldest appliance stores, is closing business due to the challenges of the pandemic.
The pandemic has affected many businesses, with some forced to stop operations. On Wednesday, September 8, Automatic Centre announced they are closing shop effective October 10, 2021. News of their closure saddened patrons as they’ve been servicing for more than 70 years.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused tremendous challenges on our business and it is with much regret and trepidation that we share this news with you today,” the company stated. “In line with keeping the brand’s legacy alive, we will continue to seek out outside parties that may be interested in using/adopting the “Automatic Centre” brand name moving forward.”
“As AAI winds down its appliance retail operations, we would like to assure you that we remain committed to honoring our obligations and that we intend to work closely with each of you to ensure a smooth transition and closing process,” AAI president Geoffrey Lim writes.
Automatic Appliances Inc. (AAI) was a one-stop-shop for everything from appliances to electronics and gadgets. The first store was established by Benito Lim in Avenida Rizal, Manila in 1948, marking them as one of the oldest retailing appliance stores in the country.
Loyal customers bid their farewells online and shared their sentiments about the closure. Some took a trip down memory lane and recounted their past purchases from the appliance store. Their reasonable prices and affordable payment plans have always been appreciated.
On behalf of the Lim Family, Automatic Centre would like to express its sincerest gratitude for patronizing the brand for the past seven decades. Their physical stores are still operational until further notice, or you can purchase through their website.
