Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Is Proclaimed President-Elect

He and Vice President-Elect Sara Duterte-Carpio will assume office on June 30.

The National Board of Canvassers have finished the canvassing of votes yesterday. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. won the presidency with approximately 31 million votes. Marcos is the son of dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Congress said it was the fastest and least problematic counting in recent years. Despite missing COCs, the Senate proceeded with his proclamation. They also proclaimed Sara Duterte-Carpio as the Vice President-elect.

Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio were at the Batasang Pambansa last night. Celebrities and other notable names joined them. Among those present were Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Imelda Marcos, and Toni Gonzaga.

Bongbong Marcos bares his plans

The inauguration of the president-elect and his vice-president is set for June 30. But Marcos Jr. will not be able to take his oath of office at the Quirino Grandstand. It’s now a field hospital for COVID-19 patients.

Marcos Jr. will be continuing his father’s legacy, as will Duterte-Carpio. They will assume office immediately after their inauguration. Marcos Jr. revealed his appointees for several departments to select members of the media. Current SMC Tollways chief Manny Bonoan is set to be DPWH Secretary. BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno will take over the Department of Finance.

Marcos Jr. also talked about the distribution of wealth. He is also looking into new ways of growing food as part of his plans for the agricultural sector. “We need to bring down the price of input if we are going to increase production, but we cannot just look at business as usual. We really need to find new ways of growing food.”

Marcos Jr. will also continue President Duterte’s war on drugs, with modifications.
