So how are Barcelona fans taking the split? Well, according to Philippine Daily Inquirer, they gathered outside his house for a glimpse of the club’s greatest player ever and spoke of their sadness at the Argentine leaving the club.

A tearful Messi made the announcement via a press conference, hinting his interest to move to the rival club. “[PSG] is one possibility,” Messi said. “There’s nothing closed at the moment, but we’re talking about a lot of things. After Barca’s statement, a lot of clubs showed an interest. There’s nothing final but, of course, there are talks.”

But what did the fans camped outside his house say? “I feel devastated,” said Cristian Garcia, wearing a Barca shirt with Messi’s name and number 10 on the back. “To see a player that I have always followed, who is an example for me, to see him leave now brings me a lot of pain.”

Youngster Jonas Romero said he was “waiting to see if we can see Messi before he leaves for PSG,”, adding that he wanted the player to sign his shirt and take a picture with him.

Another fan, Saul Moreno, added: “I don’t want Messi to go to PSG, but I know he’s going to go.”

Safe to say that Barca fans are taking the move to heart, but loyal Messi fans will follow him wherever he chooses to play.
