Filipino teen tennis player Alexandra “Alex” Eala set a new record as she stepped to no. 2 in the world tennis junior rankings following her stellar performance in the 2020 Roland Garros girls singles tournament.
This makes her the first Filipina to reach the final four of a junior Grand Slam in 35 years.
“#2 World ITF Girls Junior Ranking! Happy with my performance and thank you again for all your support! It has truly been an amazing week!” the ace tennis player wrote on Facebook yesterday, October 12.
Before Eala, Felix Barrientos was the last Filipino who made it to a junior Grand Slam in the 1985 Wimbledon tournament.
