FreebieMNL - Former Disney star Kyle Massey faces felony charges for alleged pedophilic acts

Ex-Disney actor Kyle Massey, who co-starred on Disney Channel shows That’s So Raven and Cory in the House, is facing a felony charge of immoral communication with a minor in King County, Washington. Massey was charged on June 14.

The news was first reported by TMZ, who wrote that the case involves the actor allegedly sending explicit photos, videos, and text messages to a teenage girl who was a long-time acquaintance of his. She and her mother had already sued Massey in 2019 — back when the girl was still 13 years old – for $1.5 million for immoral communication and “emotional damages,” alleging that he seduced a minor, attempted to commit a lewd act with a minor and annoyed or molested a minor, acts which allegedly spanned from December 2018 to January 2019.

Massey had denied all charges at that time.

TMZ also quoted police reports saying the lewd material the actor sent consisted of an explicit video clip and another that showed a man who appeared to be Massey exposing his genitalia.

The complainant had earlier claimed that Massey had known her and her family since she was four years old and that she kept contact with him with the prospect of joining the entertainment industry. Interaction between Massey, who presented himself as a “father figure,” and the complainant increased following plans of a potential Cory in the House reboot.

In a statement Massey sent to TMZ through his attorney, the actor called the case “extortive” and denied the allegations of misconduct. Here is the statement issued on late Wednesday, June 30, per Deadline

“It is unfortunate that Kyle Massey had to learn through the media yesterday that the 2019 allegations have resurfaced in the State of Washington a year after their dismissal,” Massey claims that the allegations then and now are extortive. The statements made to the police regarding the accuser’s own counsel’s advice seem peculiar, tearing away the veracity from the stale allegations. The accusers in no hidden agenda attempt to use the Washington courts as a platform for revenge after losing the civil matter. Indeed, California counsel withdrew from representation from the accuser leaving us to conclude that he was not willing to make misrepresentations to the court. The Washington matter is already showing problematic signs. Massey was never properly served or notified as represented to the court and the pleadings are procedurally and substantively deficient on its face. Massey intends to aggressively defend these accusations again and will seek civil damages from those that refuse to hear the facts. We plan to seek an early dismissal – finally putting these extortive attempts to rest.”

The 29-year-old Massey played the role of Ryven-Simoné’s younger sibling, Cory, in the Disney Channel series That’s So Raven which ran from 2003 to 2007. He then brought the same character to a spinoff series, Cory in the House, which aired on the same cable network from 2007 to 2008.
