Here’s what Olympic silver medalist Nesthy Petecio is set to receive so far

Following her historic silver medal finish in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it looks like Filipina women’s featherweight boxer Nesthy Petecio is coming home to a lot of awesome prizes. After all, Petecio has cemented her place in Philippine sports history as the first female boxer to bag an Olympic medal for the country.

As per Philstarlife.com, Nesthy will come home to a hero’s welcome and prizes befitting a champion. Her list of prizes (SO FAR!) includes cash incentives of P5 million as part of the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits Incentives Act; P5 million from the MVP Sports Foundation; P5 million from SMC chairman Ramon S. Ang; P5 million from the Philippine Sports Foundation; and P2 million from Rep. Mikee Romero.

To add to these cash incentives, she will also receive real estate prizes: P10-million residential condominium in Lanang, Davao City from taipan Andrew Tan’s Suntrust/Megaworld Corp. and a P2.5-million house and lot unit in Candelaria, Quezon from Ovialand Inc.

Plus, Petecio is getting free flights! Air Asia is giving our champ unlimited flights for five years while PAL is giving her 60,000 Mabuhay Miles every year for the rest of her life. Nestle is donating products to Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur and an NGO of her choice. How awesome, right?

It should be noted that these prizes are only what have been announced so far. It looks like more companies are pledging more support to Pinoy athletes. While it’s awesome that these national athletes are getting recognized for their achievements, let’s hope that the support trickles down to more sports. After all, it takes a lot of funding, time, blood, sweat and tears to produce an Olympic winner like Petecio.
