It was a fun-filled event for the Home Buddies community.
You might’ve noticed them on your Facebook feed or might even be a member of this group, but Pinoy community favorite Home Buddies marked their second anniversary. Born on September 18, 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Home Buddies has come a long way.
NYMA talent Mayora Frances Cabatuando, the community’s friendly “budolera,” together with her “tanods,” spearheaded a fun-filled celebration to send back the love to their 3.1 million members online.
“Home Buddies is a community whose goal is to empower, inspire, and support our fellow Filipinos, not just in home improvement but even beyond. Happy 2nd KapitBirthday, Home Buddies!” says Mayora Frances.
Here’s what happened
Since Mayora Frances and her tanods really wanted to give back to the community, they kicked off the Home Buddies 2nd anniversary in September 10 with a SPED classroom makeover under the Brigada Eskwela program at Pasay City North High School.
Mayora shares her admiration for the school’s inclusive education program and wants the students and educators to be comfortable and, at the same time, “supported, nurtured and empowered as learners and as the future of our country” in their classrooms.
“As part of the outreach, we tapped special education experts to help design the room as aligned with the special needs of the students,” she says.
To cap off the KapitBirthday 2nd anniversary, they held an online event on September 18 on their Home Buddies Facebook Community page. Members of the community were entertained by their host Frances and fellow PIE Channel jock Erykah Lucas.
The event was also joined by star-studded guests. Celebrity host Luis Manzano chimed in for a surprise appearance while Ronnie Liang serenaded the kapitbahays.
In addition, they’ve organized raffle games with prizes for every “buddy.” The kapitbahays played the popular game with a Home Buddies twist called “Pera O Budol.” Lucky winners bagged items from the event’s sponsors.
