As the coronation night for Miss Universe Philippines 2021 draws near, the organization finally revealed its official sponsors. The beauty pageant is proud to announce that they have partnered with brands that align with their values and inspire Filipinos. That said, not everyone was pleased with this year’s line-up.

Frontrow Philippines will be presenting this year’s spectacle, one of the major sponsors last year. Other official sponsors include Belo Sun Expert, SHEIN, Jojo Bragais, BYS, and Center for Advanced Dentistry.
“Their sponsorship goes beyond the financial and promotional values,” said Voltaire Tayag, Miss Universe Director of Communications. “No business is spared from the trying times, but this is not the time to do nothing. This is the time to reach out, engage, and most importantly, inspire. We are beyond grateful that they share this common mission with us.”
Partnership with SHEIN: ‘Wrong Move’
However, netizens were dismayed that the beauty pageant chose SHEIN as the official clothing sponsor. They were quick to comment their sentiments about the fashion retailer and why it left a bad taste in their mouths.
“Wtf is this? Shein notoriously steals and copies the work of small female designers on Instagram. How does this partnership embody a #PhenomalWoman ???” one comment read. Another brought up how they aren’t a sustainable brand, which goes against their advocacy for a better world.
Many called them out to do better and claimed this was a wrong move. “You should’ve asked Philippine RTW/Streetwear designers to dress up your girls. There’s no harm in asking us. Such an insult to local talent,” another commented.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night set for September 25 is postponed until further notice. Organizers have rescheduled pre-pageant activities, with the national costume competition taking place on September 23, followed by preliminary interviews on September 24, and preliminary swimsuit and evening gown contests on September 26.
