Adult content-sharing platform OnlyFans is getting a new CEO.
Meanwhile, the news comes after its founder, Tim Stokely, chose to step down from his position as chief officer. He also announced the decision on Instagram. Where he expressed gratitude to his co-workers for the work they’ve done together in the past five years.
“I’d like to thank all of my colleagues, but the most important thank you is to all of the content creators…you made OnlyFans what it is today,” Stokely wrote in the caption. “I would like to congratulate my successor, Ami @amrapali_gan who has a deep passion for OnlyFans. I’m passing the baton on to a colleague and a friend, who has the vision and drive to help the organization reach tremendous potential.”
He added, “Looking forward to 2022, I’m excited for what’s coming. But in the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!”
Initially, OnlyFans started as a platform where celebrities could produce videos and photos for fans who had subscribed to them. Eventually, however, the site took a more X-rated approach, featuring adult and sexually explicit content from content creators to subscribers.
Last August, pressure from banking partners caused chaos within the company, which led to a ban on sexually explicit content on the platform. Content creators lambasted the decision. They claim that their work and content are what made the site popular in the first place. The backlash led to a reversal in the decision. The OnlyFans affirming that it had “secured assurances necessary to support the diverse creator community.”
On the other hand, former chief marketing and communications officer Amrapali “Ami” Gan is poised to take the reigns from Stokely. Ami will remain an advisor to the company through the transition period.
