Some bad news for those residing in Metro Manila: according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), outdoor exercises throughout the Metro will not be allowed for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), as per GMA News Online.
MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos Jr. made the announcement, saying they passed a resolution prohibiting people from conducting exercises outside their homes to protect them from the rampage of the COVID-19 virus.
“Bilang panghuli, nagpasa rin kami ng resolution ngayon lang hapon na ultimo paglabas ng bahay maski exercise bawal na po. Sapagka’t importante for the next two weeks mapangalagaan ang mga nasa Metro Manila (Finally, we also passed a resolution this afternoon that it is the last time to leave the house even though exercise is forbidden. Because it is important for the next two weeks to take care of those in Metro Manila),” said Abalos.
In the meantime, it might be a good idea for people to explore exercising at home. You can get creative with the items you have at home, or surf the net for home workout ideas. You have to do what’s necessary to keep yourself healthy and safe.
Given that the COVID-19 cases in the country have risen to an average of 9,000 new ones per day, it looks like the government is pulling out all the stops to keep people safe. There are even talks that the ongoing ECQ in Metro Manila may possibly be extended. Well, as of now, the official word is that Metro Manila will be under ECQ until August 20.
As of now, it’s best to take things day by day. It may be a bit of a blow, but with the ongoing vaccination throughout the country, let’s hope the situation will ease so the ECQ will be lifted.
