Thailand’s Nachita Jantana gave up the crown due to undisclosed personal reasons.
A week after winning first runner-up at the Miss Interglobal 2021, Philippine bet Miriam Refuerzo Damoah has now ascended to the crown following the announcement that Thailand’s representative has relinquished her title.
In a social media post on Friday, December 10, the organizers of the Nigeria-based beauty pageant revealed that the reign of the original winner, Thailand’s Nachita Jantana, had ended “due to personal reasons beyond her explanation.”
“Nachita had recently informed us, the Miss Interglobal organization, that due to personal reasons beyond her explanation, she will not be able to carryout her duties as the Miss Interglobal 2021. Therefore, she is relinquishing her position,” the statement read.
It continued: “For this reason, after discussion, we as an organization have respected her decisions and the title of Miss Interglobal 2021 will be transferred to the 1st Runner-Up, Miriam Refuerzo Damoah of the Philippines.”
“We wish Nachita the best on her life journey, and also to Miriam, as she takes up the role of Miss Interglobal 2021.”
Damoah, who hails from Guiginto, Bulacan, was chosen to represent the Philippines in the inaugural edition of the Miss Interglobal pageant last August. A month before being selected, she was named as one of the Top 100 applicants of the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 competition but failed to make the Top 50 cut.
At the time, she wrote about her selection: “Words aren’t enough to thank you Lord for giving me this opportunity to represent my beloved home country, the Philippines. It’s a heart-felt excitement to showcase and divulge what a Filipina can show in the international stage. Thank you so much Miss Interglobal for giving me this opportunity.”
