PPP4 Goes Online: What You Need to Know About This Year’s Must-See Line Up

Because of quarantine, we’ve had to miss out on so many events we were looking forward to. Fortunately for movie buffs, the fourth Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP4) does not have to be one of them. This year, PPP4 will be held online from October 31 to November 15 on FDCP Channel with a lineup full of excellent films you just can’t miss.

The films to be screened are divided into 14 different categories, so you’re sure to find a film – or several, for that matter – that you’ll want to watch. The different sections are PPP Premium Selection, Classics, PH Oscar Entries, Tribute, Romance, Youth & Family, Genre, Bahaghari, PPP Retro, Documentaries, From the Regions, PPP Short Films, Special Screenings, and CineMarya.

The Lineup

Last week, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) unveiled the lineup for the Premium Selection section of the film festival. This is perhaps one of the most exciting sections as these feature movies that haven’t yet been released in the Philippines or only had limited screenings that you might have missed. They also feature two classic 80’s films, “Batch ‘81” and “Brutal.”

  • “Brutal” (restored) by Marilou Diaz-Abaya
  • “Cleaners” by Glenn Barit
  • “Itoshi No Irene (Come On, Irene)” by Keisuke Yoshida
  • “Ang Lakaran ni Kabunyan: Kabunyan’s Journey to Liwanag” by Kidlat Tahimik
