Prince Andrew Forces Queen Elizabeth to defend Crown at “all costs”

The ongoing pandemic has been tough on everyone, and the Royal Family was not spared from hardships the past two years. From the death of family patriarch Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bowing out from their official royal duties, a lot has happened to the British Royal Family.

The most controversial issue as of late is that surrounding Queen Elizabeth second-born son, Prince Andrew, Duke of York. While it is common knowledge that Prince Andrew is her favorite child, Queen Elizabeth was forced to inflict the humiliation of stripping him of his honorary military titles as his US civil trial for sexual assault approaches.

In a curt statement made to the public, the Royal Family announced that Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and Royal patronages has been returned to the Queen. He will not be performing public duties on behalf of the British monarchy and will proceed with the case as a private citizen. This means that the Queen has relinquished Prince Andrew’s His Royal Highness title.

As per the Daily Mail, the Queen was saddened to make this decision, but agrees with Prince Charles that they had ‘no choice.’ “It’s survival of the royal institution at all costs —- and it always will be,” wrote the Daily Mail.

In case you’re not in the loop, Prince Andrew has been in hot water for the past few years due to sex trafficking allegations, which has denied vehemently. The long-running scandal has tarnished the Duke of York’s reputation, and the public has been pressuring the Royal Family to take action.

According to Manila Bulletin, the pressure ramped up when 150 military personnel wrote to the Queen to denounce what they said was 61-year-old Andrew’s lack of “probity, honesty and honorable conduct.”

Whatever happens to the trial (where an out-of-court financial settlement remains an option), it is expected that people will remain angry at Prince Andrew for his gross conduct. The prince had always been the black sheep of the family, and it looks like he’s keeping his streak going.

On the other hand, Prince Andrew retains his title of Duke of York. He remains “Counsellor of State,” a position bestowed on the Queen’s children, which allows them to execute her duties if needed temporarily. Be as it may, the Queen is putting service above self as always.
