Can you say priiiiide?! Inclusivity matters. That’s why netizens have been raving about the newly inaugurated all-gender comfort room in the Quezon City Public Library.
They proudly made this announcement on their Facebook page. No. 2357, S-2014 (An All-Gender Restroom on the first floor of the City Library was inaugurated today as part of QCPL’s ongoing campaign to make it an inclusive establishment for our brothers and sisters in the LQBTQA+ Community in accordance with the provisions of QC Ordinance No. 2357, S-2014),” they captioned on the post.
Kabilang sa mga dumalo sa nasabing pagpapasinaya ay ang mga QCPL heads at ilang library staff (QCPL believes that the construction of an All Gender Restroom will serve as an instrument to meet the personal needs of members of the LGBT Community. Among those who attended the said inauguration were QCPL heads and some library staff),” they continued.
While this inclusive comfort room may not mean much to cis gender people, it symbolizes a lot to the trans community. Why? Members of the trans community often experienced discrimination in using public bathrooms. In 2019, a transgender woman named Gretchen Diez was arrested for lining up to use the women’s restroom at Farmers Plaza Mall.
