Here’s An Update on Steph Curry’s Recent Leg Injury

Looks like Steph Curry’s going to miss the All-Star games

Steph Curry suffered a lower leg injury that will keep him out for several weeks. The incident occurred during the Warriors’ 119-113 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, February 4.

Curry attempted to defend a drive by Mavericks player McKinley Wright IV during the third quarter when the two collided. Curry’s leg buckled inward, forcing him to leave the game and go to the locker room.

Curry’s MRI revealed partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane. He also has a bruise on his lower left leg.

With that, Curry will miss at least the next five games before the NBA All-Star break. But the Warriors are hoping he will be able to return soon after. Their first game after the break will be against the Los Angeles Lakers on February 23.

The doctors will re-evaluate his injury in a few days, but the great news is that he will be okay.

“He’s going to be back,” Steve Kerr said Sunday after Warriors practice. “We don’t exactly know when, but it’s not an injury that’s going to keep them out for the season. He’s going to come back this season and hopefully sooner rather than later, but we’ll know more in a few days.”

Kerr spoke with Curry after the MRI, and the results thrilled them. When a player, especially one as talented as Curry, undergoes an MRI, your worst fears come true.

The NBA star missed 11 games earlier this season due to a subluxation in his left shoulder. He has always been concerned about his durability. He missed 18 games last season and appeared in only five games this season. A series of ankle injuries limited his development early in his career, but he overcame them and evolved into an MVP-caliber player.
