What started as a humble bamboo kariton with free essential goods such as rice, vegetables, milk, vitamins, face masks, canned goods, and more has spurred a massive bayanihan movement all over Metro Manila. The Maginhawa Community Pantry demonstrates the best of humanity, showcasing how despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic, there are still kind-hearted individuals willing to give to those who are struggling to food put on the table.

Since the OG Maginhawa Community Pantry post became viral, a lot of community pantries have been put up by various individuals. There’s even one located south of Metro Manila.

The Muntinlupa Community Pantry was spearheaded by Isay Yason, the brainchild behind the charity organization, Muntinlupa Food Drive. When asked why she set up the pantry, Yason told the Philippine Star it was because she wanted to emulate the original Maginhawa Community Pantry, as well as continue the food drive she started last year. “We were inspired by Maginhawa and wanted to make our own here. My group and I have been helping in the city since last year with our Muntinlupa Food Drive. We thought this was a good initiative to start again,” Yason explained.

The community pantry was initially located in Putatan, Muntinlupa City, but the organizers recently announced that they’re changing locations. However, their team is still actively re-donating to other smaller community pantries within the southern Metro Manila.

While the Muntinlupa Food Drive has yet to announce its new location, the team is still actively accepting donations in kind and monetary form. Cash donations may be sent via GCash to Yason (09178434729), or through bank transfer:

Alternatively, you may also reach out to their team via Facebook if you’re willing to help out. The ongoing pandemic may be tough on everyone, but it’s just amazing to see people go out of their way to help those in need. So if you’re in the position to be a blessing to others, you should. The universe will reward your kind deeds accordingly.
