It’s the most exciting time of the year for basketball fans. As a huge basketball nation, Filipinos are known to be big supporters of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and it’s now the time for the best of the best to battle it out for the top crown this year.
Yes, the Milwaukee Bucks will be competing with the Phoenix Suns for the coveted championship of the NBA. Even though both teams are top 3 seeds from each conference, this finals match-up is pretty special.
Why? If the Phoenix Suns emerge victoriously, this will be their first-ever NBA championship title. Despite three appearances in the finals, the Suns have yet to cliche the top prize. To add to this, this could mean the first NBA championship ring for Chris Paul, otherwise known as CP3. The veteran has been in the league for 16 years but has yet to win a championship.
Another key to the Suns’ strength as a team is the 24-year-old shooting guard Devin Booker. Booker may have broken his nose during the playoffs, but he has remained to be a force to be reckoned with.
On the other hand, the Milwaukee Bucks have one title under their belt, but this was way back in 1971. Needless to say, the Bucks are hungry for championship number two. Despite the fact their strongest player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is doubtful to play in the upcoming matchup, the Bucks are still a very formidable team. Other ballers from the Bucks, namely Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez, have demonstrated that they can still secure the W without the Greek Freak.
Game one for the NBA Finals is slated for July 7, 9:00 AM (Philippine time). So who will win the NBA Finals? We’ll find out very soon. Needless to say, Pinoys all over the world will be tuned in.
