Would Pinoys in Korea recognize Sandara Park?

She may be pure Korean but her heart is still Pinoy. Sandara Park featured her favorite Filipino food as she visited a Philippine market in South Korea.

In her latest vlog entry, the K-pop star shared that she heard of the Philippine market and would love to buy some of her favorites.

“Right now I am headed to a Philippine market. The very place I only heard about. I’m going there with producer Shin,” she said in Korean.

“Let’s see if people there will recognize me. Because occasionally those who live abroad when they were younger and didn’t have access to Philippine TV programs don’t know me,” she added.

While looking around, she told Shin that she loved sinigang, corned beef, tocino, and even labeled ‘Mang Tomas’ as a ‘national sauce.’ Although she thought Filipinos who migrated a long time ago would not recognize her, a vendor immediately identified her while buying.

Park granted photo requests from fans and even though she was still eating her meal, she gamely posed for a selfie.

The Korean idol rose to fame in the Philippines when she joined the reality competition show “Star Circle Quest” in 2004 where she was dubbed as the “Pambansang Krungkrung.” She then starred in several TV shows, commercials, and films.

She soon flew to her home country and trained for years to become an idol. Eventually, Park became a member of YG’s all-girl group 2NE1 alongside CL, Minzy, and Park Bom.
