10 Songs Turning 10 Years Old in 2021

A lot of us are coping with this pandemic by going back to things that remind us of happy memories from our childhood (or just anything from our younger years.) Aside from repeatedly watching your “comfort shows,” you might have also done putting songs from years ago on repeat. Here are some #throwback songs that, believe it or not, are already turning 10 years old this year!

1. What Makes You Beautiful

This song that launched One Direction‘s career peaked at the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart after its release on September 11, 2011.

2. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)

Katy Perry dominated charts during this time, with hit after hit from her album, “Teenage Dream.”

The music video for “Last Friday Night” was also star-studded, with appearances from Rebecca Black, Kenny G, and Glee stars Kevin McHale and Darren Criss!

3. Price Tag

Jessie J collaborated with rapper B.o.B. for this song in her debut album entitled “Who You Are.” It entered the UK Singles Chart and went straight to the top spot!

4. Moves Like Jagger

Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera joined forces for this song that mentions the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger. It was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category 2012.

It also made Christina Aguilera the second female artist to have a number one single in three consecutive decades (’90s, ’00s, and ’10s)!

5. Angel With a Shotgun

This song from The Cab‘s album “Symphony Soldier” also got popular for its nightcore version.

6. The Lazy Song

Bruno Mars was everywhere after the release of his debut album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” that included hit songs like “Just the Way You Are,” “The Lazy Song,” and “Grenade.” He also won his first Grammy Award in 2011!

7. Super Bass

Are you one of the people who’s still got the lyrics (and dance moves) of this Nicki Minaj song memorized? Now with over 800 million views on YouTube, this song also won the “Most-Played Music Video” award in the 2012 MTV Platinum Video Plays Awards.

8. Boyfriend

The original version of this iconic Big Time Rush song was released in 2010 for the group’s debut album, while the version featuring Snoop Dogg was released in February 2011.

9. A Thousand Years

The first “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” film is also turning 10 years old this year! Cue in all the feels from Bella and Edward’s wedding with this Christina Perri song.

10. Party Rock Anthem

The late ’00s and early ’10s produced lots of fun party songs that we miss. This LMFAO song featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock always makes us feel like dancing!
