Angelica Panganiban took to Twitter a few days ago to air out her frustrations against the Philippine Red Cross and netizens did not respond well.

Earlier this week, the actress was allegedly waiting for her turn to be swabbed at a Red Cross facility in Subic. She tweeted the following: “Hello, Red Cross Subic!! Isang oras na kami sa dito sa parking area niyo. Nakaalis na din mga nakasabay namin. At inuna niyo pa yung ibang bagong dating. Okay lang naman kung palakasan. Tweet ko na lang.”

(Hello, Red Cross Subic! We have been waiting in the parking lot for one hour. Others who arrived with us have already left. You even accommodated those who came after us. It’s okay if there is preferential treatment. I’ll just tweet about it.)

She further went on to detail a previous negative experience she had with the Red Cross, claiming that they had mistakenly told her she was positive for COVID-19. “Muntik akong mabaliw. Nagpadala sila ng email na positive ako sa covid. Pero yung attachment result, negative ako. Ginawa nila yun sa buong Olongapo guys. Nag sorry naman sila after 12 hours,” she said.

(I almost went crazy. They sent an email saying I was positive for COVID-19. But the attachment result said I was negative. They did that to the entire Olongapo guys. Though they said sorry after 12 hours.)

The response to Paganiban’s tweets was largely negative, calling the actress “entitled” and criticizing her for waiting in the comfort of her personal vehicle rather than lining up.

One frontliner, who was present at the time the actress was at the site, commented that her fame would not put her on to the priority list. He said, “People who were swabbed before you sa parking, [were] actually [ill] and yung isa nga ambulansya pa eh. Di mo ba kita ma’am? Ang pagiging artista ma’am di kasama sa priority list, yet, lumabas ako to swab yung kasama nyo.”

(People who were swabbed before you in the parking lot were actually ill, and one of them was even in an ambulance. Did you not see it, ma’am? Being an actress, ma’am, does not make you part of the priority list, yet I went out to swab your companion.)

He urged her to come earlier next time and even posted a photo with her, saying, “Next time punta kayo maaga, we’re open at 9AM, make sure may appointment kayo and better pila kayo so that malaman nyo na di lang kayo ang client namin. Mas nakakapagod palang lumabas sa tirik ng araw to swab such artists tapos more rant lang. Kala ko pa naman happy ka dito o.”

(Next time you should come early, we’re open at 9AM, make sure you have an appointment and it’s better that you line up so you know that you’re not our only client. It’s more tiring to go out in the hot sun to swab such artists who just rant. I even thought you were happy in this picture.)

Others have tweeted their own experiences at the site, commenting that the process was fine for those who scheduled an appointment and waited dutifully.

Panganiban has yet to respond to the situation.
