Angeline Quinto Reveals Baby’s Gender Through “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” TikTok Trend

Angeline and Nonrev are welcoming a baby girl!

Angeline Quinto has given the “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” TikTok trend a fun twist— creatively using it as a way to reveal the gender of her baby with her non-showbiz husband Nonrev Daquina.

The 34-year-old singer-actress takes on the challenge, as seen on a Tiktok video she uploaded on Monday, May 6, 2024. It comes with a caption that reads: “Magpapahuli ba ako? [blue heart pink heart] ‘Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas.’ #piliinmoangpilipinas”

What seemed like an ordinary TikTok trend then brought in a lot of surprise after Angeline revealed her now-obvious baby bump while wearing modern Filipiniana and a traditional Ifugao ensemble.

In the succeeding clips, Angeline can be seen playing Pukpok Palayok with husband Nonrev and firstborn Sylvio. While blindfolded, she hit the palayok right, which then revealed pink confettis—indicating that their second child will be a girl.

Brought about by the good news, Angeline has enthusiastically hugged her family, while leaning in for a kiss towards her husband and son. At the end of the video, the short declaration, ”It’s a girl” is displayed.

As of writing, Angeline’s video has already gained more than 600,000 likes, 5,000 comments, and an impressive 4.5 million views.

“Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” was originally rendered by Angeline. It was written by Robert Labayen for the Department of Tourism’s Choose Philippines campaign in 2011. The song eventually became a TikTok trend a decade and more later, as a more localized response to India’s Asoka challenge.

Angeline and Nonrev tied the knot in a church wedding held at Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila on April 25, 2024. They got engaged in 2022—the same year they welcomed their firstborn Sylvio.
