This will be Mackie’s first flight as Cap in his own feature film.

Following the success of Disney Plus’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier mini-series, Anthony Mackie is now set to suit up once more for Marvel Studios’ fourth Captain America movie, Deadline revealed.

Also serving as Mackie’s first superhero film in lead, the yet-unnamed Captain America movie has also yet to reveal other castings, including a potential spot for series co-star Sebastian Stan. What we only know for sure, care of Varietyis that it will be co-written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman and staff writer Dalan Musson. This information might signal some semblance of continuity that will let the series leap onto the big screen.

What is out in the open, though, is Stan’s feelings towards Mackie’s big-ticket casting. On Instagram, the “Winter Soldier” star posted a screenshot of Deadline’s report as a story while tagging Mackie and internally shouting: “HELL. YES.”

First flying in a mechanized suit as Falcon in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Mackie would reprise the role five more times within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He would eventually trade the wings for a shield after Steve Rogers handpicks him to be the next Captain America, and then confront the moral dilemma of taking up the mantle in the Disney Plus limited series.
