We’re bullish on the Axie Infinity x Globe partnership!
One of the Philippines’ telecom giants is making big moves in the NFT world. Globe Telecom expressed its intent to partner with Axie Infinity publisher Sky Mavis. Axie Infinity is a popular P2E (play-to-earn) game that took the world by storm in 2019. SKY Mavis PH lead Nix Eniego confirmed Globe’s plans to elevate gaming in the country. The telecom will also tap various P2E game developers to expand their reach in the NFT gaming world.
“In the Philippines, seventy-four percent of the online gaming population use mobile devices. With the ongoing pandemic, virtual playgrounds have become an escape for many. This is something we’ll tackle head-on this year,” a representative for Globe said.
Globe hopes to unite gamers from all over the country. To that end, the telco recently launched the “Game Well-Played” campaign. It’s geared toward promoting the good in gaming. It aims to draw more support for the gaming industry across the Philippines.
Globe plans to upgrade its Go+ offers by adding access promos to several games like Axie Infinity. The decision to team up with the most popular NFT game is due to its sudden spike in popularity. At its peak, it helped thousands of gamers earn a living. The Sky Mavis game also paved the way for other P2E games to gain traction.
Sadly, it recently lost more than 60% of its daily active users due to the value of its utility token. But the number of users is expected to increase with the release of Axie Infinity: Origin later this year.
