Barbie Forteza Says Being Compared To Kathryn Bernardo Is A “Very Big Honor”

Barbie: “She really handles her career and personal life really, really well”

Barbie Forteza says she looks up to Kathryn Bernardo for a number of reasons, and being compared to her as an actress is an honor itself.

The 26-year-old Sparkle artist expressed her admiration for Kathryn during the grand media conference of “That Kind of Love” on June 20, 2024 at Plaza Ibarra, Quezon City.

During the Q&A, the actress was asked if the constant comparison with Kathryn inflicts pressure on her. With caution, Barbie responds, “Actually, naku, hindi ko alam kung paano ko po sasagutin yan.

Kasi aaminin ko isa rin po si Miss Kathryn Bernardo sa mga taong nilu-look up ko sa showbiz. She really handles her career and personal life really, really well. And that is why there’s no doubt kaya maraming brands ang na-a-attract niya.”

Dahil ganun niya talaga dalhin ang sarili niya. And so to be acknowledged or to be noticed na kahit paano ay parehas, is siyempre a very big honor for me.

Barbie’s admiration comes with the desire to work with Kathryn—saying that the actress is one of the many celebrities she respects very much.

She says, “And sana, sana magkatrabaho kaming dalawa dahil isa rin siya talaga sa mga gusto kong makatrabaho, at isa sa mga ina-admire kong actors of our generation.”

David has the same hopeful sentiment for Kathryn, as he has long expressed in past press conferences his wish to work with Kathryn as well.

Barbie Forteza vs. Kathryn Bernardo in the past

It may be recalled that both Barbie and Kathryn started their careers as teen stars in GMA-7.

While both of them started as a child actor in ABS-CBN, both of them played younger versions of lead stars in GMA-7’s adaptation of Korean dramas.

Barbie played young Rhian Ramos in “Stairway To Heaven” while Kathryn played young Marian Rivera in “Endless Love.”

After these shows, Barbie thrived in her career with GMA-7 while Kathryn returned to ABS-CBN and reached unprecedented success in her TV shows and movies.

At one point, Kathryn and Barbie’s shows went head-to-head against each other, with Barbie headlining “Tween Hearts” while Kathryn topbilled “Growing Up” in 2011.
