Bea Alonzo said she’s “open to falling in love again.”
The 33-year-old actress has been linked for months now to Dominic Roque, but the two have neither confirmed nor denied their relationship status before. Dominic was present at Bea’s birthday party in 2019 and dedicated another Instagram post for her birthday in 2020. The two even posted matching photos taken in Amanpulo Beach back in February!
Now that Bea’s “open” again, she let the world in on what’s happening in her life through interviews with MEGA Entertainment Editor G3 San Diego.
Dating again
Bea described herself to be very open to possibilities, both in work and in romantic relationships. “I decided that I’m not going to be a prisoner of my past… I am very careful when it comes to falling so deep again and trusting anybody, but I would like to say that I am open to being happy whether it’s romantically or in that aspect, romance or work. I am very open,” she said.
She also revealed that she’s dating Dominic, but they are not yet officially together. “Wala pa kami. Ang hirap kasing sabihin, alam mo, parang in a way, as much as I don’t want to be a prisoner of my past, meron din akong parang, nahihiya ako sa mga tao na ‘I’m 33, I am dating.'”
She said she’s just being careful because she doesn’t want to “fail” again. “Hindi ko alam kung it will materialize into something else or like it would lead to something else but then, what if I fail again? I don’t want to keep failing in front of you guys, it’s embarrassing.”
Bea, who said she’s happy with where she is in life right now, described Dominic as a “good guy.” She said she doesn’t know yet if she’s “in love,” but is willing to open up again when that moment comes. “That’s such a big word! I don’t know. But I’ll tell you when I get there,” she said.
First heartbreak
Aside from opening up about the present, Bea also shared some bits from her past. She said that from a crush, she ended up loving her on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz for real.
“I loved him… From fan-ey ako ng ‘Tabing Ilog’ to we became a love team. At that time, it was that and then it has transitioned to siyempre a crush, and then nagpapadala ka sa mga holding hands.” She also revealed that John Lloyd was both her cinematic and real first kiss, but she ended up feeling disappointed when she found out that he already had a girlfriend.
The pair are still friends and Bea said that “The love has always been there but I can’t tell you because I can’t speak for him… Ngayon, feeling ko we’re at that point where it goes beyond romance. To me ah,” she said.
John Lloyd also “never really wanted that guy for me,” referring to her last relationship. “But I didn’t believe him. Because I loved Gerald [Anderson.]“
Bea said she’s learned a lot from her past and will bring these lessons along with her. “I will never subject myself anymore to that type of relationship,” she said.
