Big Bad Wolf Book Fair Set For On-Site Return

Who’s ready to get back into hoarding books from Big Bad Wolf?

The popular Big Bad Wolf book sale is set to return to Manila as an on-site event after more than three years.

This year’s edition, dubbed as the “Bad Does Good” book sale, will run from June 24 to July 3, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., at the PICC Forum Tent in Pasay City.

The event is open to the public for free.

Visitors can expect over two million books across different authors and genres at up to 95% off, organizers said in a statement released Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

These include fiction, non-fiction, bestsellers, cookbooks, and items across genres, writing styles, and authors.

Among the titles that buyers can cop at the event are “Harry Potter Creatures” and “Diary of A Wimpy Kid Book Set” under the Children’s category, “The Classic Paulo Coelho Collection” under Fiction, “The Wish” by Nicholas Sparks under Romance, “The Stranger in the Lifeboat” by Mitch Albom under Inspirational, “Joy At Work” by Marie Kondo under Self-Help, “7 Ways” by Jamie Oliver under Cookbooks, and “The Bomber Mafia” by Malcolm Gladwell under Non-Fiction.

Even prior to the event, excited bookworms can take a shot at getting a special Php 2500 voucher as Big Bad Wolf launched an online contest ahead of its sale date.

Big Bad Wolf is dubbed as the biggest book sale in the world. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event had to pause its annual on-site selling and settled to hold previous editions in the Philippines online.

Founded by Yap and Jacqueline Ng in 2009, Big Bad Wolf initially launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since then, their book sales have toured 15 countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Manila, and Singapore. The same massive book sale has also reached outside of the Asia Pacific region into nations like Tanzania, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates.

During the online sale held in 2021, Yap and Ng praised the reading culture of the Philippines in a past interview.

“The Philippines has probably the most mature readership. You should be very proud of that,” said Yap then.
