The MCU made another startling yet interesting change.
Marvel Studios is keeping a tight lid on Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. But credible sources have spoiled the identity of its main antagonist. So if you’re not a fan of spoilers, you may want to skip this article.
The movie’s antagonist is none other than Namor. Leaks suggest that Tenoch Huerta will be playing the antihero. He has aquatic abilities, flight, super-strength, and other powers. Oh, and did we mention that he’s one of the first-ever mutants to join the MCU?
Recent reports suggest that Marvel Studios put a fresh spin on the character’s origin. Instead of being the Prince of Atlantis, Namor will have an Aztec/Mayan background.

MCU fans had a lot to say about the change to Namor’s backstory. But regardless of the uproar it caused on social media, it’s a good thing. An Aztec or Mayan background would bring Namor closer to Huerta, who is of Mexican descent. Also, it would allow Marvel Studios to avoid comparisons to Namor’s DCEU counterpart.
Namor’s background is an integral part of the film’s story. Wakanda is reportedly at war with his place of origin. Until the movie hits theaters, fans will have to wait for a trailer to learn more about this character.
