Chelsea Manalo of Bulacan clinched the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines crown—besting 52 other candidates during the coronation night on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
The months-long showcase of beauty, intelligence, and advocacy has finally culminated, with a new set of royal court led by the black beauty.
Taguig’s Christi McGarry placed fourth runner-up; Baguio’s Tarah Valencia is third runner-up; Quezon Province’s Ahtisa Manalo is second runner-up; while Stacey Gabriel landed first runner-up.
Chelsea—who took home the highest title at stake—was crowned by outgoing Miss Universe Philippines 2023, Michelle Dee, who was able to secure a top-10 finish in the 72nd edition of Miss Universe.

Prior to the finals night, Chelsea is considered one of the heavy favorites to win the crown—consistently making it in the fearless forecasts of several pageant-oriented news outlets.
During the evening gown portion, Chelsea wore a white ensemble decorated well by a feathery shoal. She is bound to Mexico in the latter part of the year to compete in the international stage of Miss Universe 2024.
The event was hosted by Miss Universe 2023 R’Bonney Gabriel from the USA, Sparkle actor Alden Richards, covered by Gabbi Garcia and Tim Yap—with special correspondence by American television presenter Jeannie Mai.
Filipina drag queen and “Rupaul’s Drag Race: UK Versus The World” top-four finisher Marina Summers rendered a fiery performance of “AMAFILIPINA” as the opening number, while Thai actor Win Metawin serenaded the crowd with a song performance for the evening gown portion.
OPM Band Lola Amour has also jammed with the audience with their hit song, “Raining in Manila” and “Fallen” for the swimsuit competition.
Sitting in the panel of judges are some of the notable figures in the entertainment industry, such as Sparkle GMA Artist Center Vice President Joy Marcelo, Chairman of AGC Power Holdings Archie Carrasco, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 and recently signed Sparkle artist Bea Gomez, Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2013 Ara Arida and many more.
The online world was also given the chance to be the judge through the Miss Universe Philippines mobile application.
Miss Universe Philippines is a brand under Empire Philippines. It is helmed by Shamcey Supsup, Binibining Pilipinas- Universe 2011 with Jonas Gaffud as the organization’s creative director.
This has been the first edition of Miss Universe Philippines-–since its acquisition from Binibining Pilipinas Organization in 2020—wherein the typical restrictions on age, height, and weight were removed.
More so, it also welcomed mothers, married women, and overseas participants hailing from Filipino communities to accommodate a more progressive approach of the persisting time.
