Carl Guevarra after “Expecially For You” guesting: “I’m still single”
The Juans has always been known for their “mapanakit” and “hugot” songs that people can easily relate to.
Years after they achieved success with their songs, The Juans’ vocalist, Carl Guevarra, recently shared for the first time his own heartbreaks that he went through in the trending segment of “It’s Showtime,” “Expecially For You.”
In the segment, Carl shared how he got involved with a female celebrity who apparently has a boyfriend and how he got through it.
During the press conference for The Juans and Alamat’s song, “Gupit” on June 4, FreebieMNL asked Carl about his experience in “Expecially For You.”
Carl revealed that it was actually “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda who requested for him to join the segment.
He shares, “Doing ‘Expecially For You’ kasi request po ni Meme Vice yan, e. Si Vice Ganda po has been so good to us, sobrang generous po niya sa amin, talagang binibigyan niya po kami ng space to promote, to be heard, grabe din niya kami i-build up.
“So, nag-request siya sa amin, ‘Oy, sumali ka naman sa ‘Expecially For You,’ ‘di po kami nagdalawang isip.”

Reactions on social media
Carl is aware that most episodes of “Expecially For You” trend online, especially when celebrities participate in the segment.
Hence, he was hesitant to check his social media after the episode.
“When I joined, actually, noong una natakot po ako, ‘di muna ako nag-check ng social media for a day, kasi parang kinakabahan ako ano magiging reaction ng mga tao.
“Siyempre, hindi naman po natin kontrolado, siyempre, hindi mo ine-expect. Maba-bash ka, may masasabing iba.
“Pero siguro po dahil sa tulong ng mga hosts din to shape up the conversation, positive naman po, maraming nagparamdam sa akin ng pagmamahal na, ‘Ay, deserve mong may magmamahal sa ‘yo.’
“So, I felt loved by a lot of people and na-appreciate ko po yung mga taong nag-effort to show me love.”
Carl also shared what happened between him and his date, Andrea.
“Doon naman po sa aking naka-date si Andrea, nag-enjoy naman kami. We had a quick dinner, catch up ganun.
“Pero mukhang talagang pangarap muna bago pag-ibig. Siya po ay nagpunta sa ibang bansa to pursue her dreams, and hindi naman wala namang any sad feeling about it kasi parehas naman kami na nangangarap tayo, abutin natin yung pangarap natin, so saan mo gusto pumunta, ihahatid kita! Hindi joke lang, isu-support kita diyan.
“To confirm to everybody, I’m still single.”

Carl’s experience
While Carl appreciates the love he received from netizens, he is also wary of how he will present his story that won’t paint the female celebrity as the bad guy in the story.
He explains, “I was scared to step on any toe, ayoko na may matapakang ibang tao, ayokong may ma-badmouth na ibang tao, ayokong may unneccessary hate na mapunta sa ibang tao.
“Pwede naman na entitled ka sa pain mo pero you’re responsible on how to handle that pain na hindi ka nakakasakit kasi in our generation po ngayon, porke’t nasaktan ka, feeling mo lahat ng gagawin mo, papanig sa ‘yo lahat ng tao.
“Pero pwede naman to grieve responsibility and yun po yung gusto kong maging ehemplo ako na pwede kang masaktan pero hindi mo naman kailangan sasaktan lahat ng nasa paligid mo kasi nasaktan ka. [It] doesn’t validate hurting other people as well and hopefully, yun din yung natanggap ng mga tao na si Carl.
“Nasaktan siya pero hindi niya intensyon na manakit o gumanti. Merong magmo-move on lang, tatanggapin ang mga nangyari, at maglu-look forward to a good future.”
The Juans and Alamat are busy promoting their first collaboration, “Gupit,” which will start streaming on Spotify on June 14.
