Daniel Padilla To Work With John Arcilla, Zanjoe Marudo In Next Film Projects

Daniel Padilla will also reunite on the big screen with his longtime girlfriend, Kathryn Bernardo

Two years since he was last seen on the big screen and Daniel Padilla is coming back with three powerful film projects.

One of which he would be doing with the Venice International Film Festival Volpi Cup for Best Actor John Arcilla, and another one with his friend, Zanjoe Marudo.

In the New Movie Alert press conference held on April 27, 2023, Padilla assures that he will be offering something new to the viewers with his upcoming projects.

“It’s been a while. Itong mga proyektong gagawin natin ngayon ay handpicked. Na-feel nila ‘yung gusto kong gawin ngayon, e. Now is the perfect time,” he says.

The announcement came a day after he celebrated his 28th birthday, and a month after his longtime girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo announced her upcoming big-screen projects.

Padilla will be starring with Arcilla in a psychological suspense-thriller movie “The Guest” under Black Sheep.

Helming the film is Jerrold Tarog who also directed Arcilla’s hit biopic “Heneral Luna.”

“Kind of imagining it na nasa modern-themed war. Marami siyang twists and turns bilang nasa puso ko ‘yung kadiliman. Medyo mindf**k na pelikula siya,” the director says.

The movie is set to be shot this year but will be aired next year.

Apart from that, Padilla is also thrilled to be part of a film with a story written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Ricky Lee, with his friend Zanjoe Marudo, no less.

The light-hearted comedy is an adaptation of “Nang Mapagod si Kamatayan,” from Lee’s book “Kung Alam N’yo Lang.”

It will be directed by Dan Villegas and will navigate the mysteries of life, love, friendship, and death.

Nandun ‘yung comedy pero di siya slapstick na pagpapatawa. Nakakatawa ang buhay. Dun siya. ‘Di siya slapstick,” Padilla stresses.

Rounding up his upcoming film projects is his upcoming reunion movie with Bernardo which will be helmed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The real-life couple’s last movie, “The Hows of Us,” is one of the highest-grossing Filipino films of all time.
