Does Lexi Gonzales Want To Star In “The Penthouse” Philippine Adaptation?

Lexi shows interest in portraying this “The Penthouse” character!

Sparkle actress Lexi Gonzales is up for the challenge if given the chance to star in the Philippine Adaptation of the big K-Drama series “The Penthouse: War in Life.

Upon the news of a possible adaptation, netizens place their bets on which artists should play the characters.

A number of fans clamor for Lexi to play the role of Ha Eun-Byul, which was first played by Choi Ye-bin in the K-Drama series.

Netizens think she is suited for the role, given the versatility and range she has exhibited so far in her previous appearances.

But what does Lexi have to say about this?

FreebieMNL had the chance to ask Lexi at the launch of Sparkle 10 at GMA Network Center on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at GMA Network Center Studio 7.

Lexi says she is intrigued by the role of one of the series’ dynamic characters, more so taking a part if ever a Philippine adaptation pushes through.

She says, “Salamat. Well, for sure, doon tayo sa tier ng mga bagets. Ako, I think it would be a new challenge for me if I would take on the role of Eun-byul.

“Hindi ko pa nagagawa yung ganun, e, and ibang level of acting yung kailangan kong gawin kasi I have to understand what’s happening with her mentally, emotionally, kung paano ko ‘yun itatago, kung paano ko ‘yun ilalabas.”

This also aligns with her wish to do a kontrabida role, especially coming from a short break from doing a teleserye.

But while there are no clear plans yet about “The Penthouse” PH adaptation, Lexi is also waiting for her next project after the afternoon drama series “Underage” in 2023.

She says, “Still waiting sa magandang proyekto, but I’m very much ready to take on something more challenging.

Marami namang mga Korean adaptations na we’re dreaming of doing.”

“As an actor, lahat kailangan mong mapagdaanan. And kontrabida, hindi ko pa nagagawa.”

In 2023, rumors have spread that GMA-7 and ABS-CBN are collaborating again for the adaptation of “The Penthouse: War in Life.”

If this pushes through, the remake of “The Penthouse” will follow the success of “Unbreak My Heart,” which headlined Kapamilya stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Joshua Garcia, and Kapuso stars Gabbi Garcia and Richard Yap.

She says, “May mga times na hindi ako confident mag-two-piece or hindi ako confident mag-swimsuit kasi nahihiya ako sa katawan ko. And then, Sparkle 10 made me realize na, oo nga naman, babae ako, e. I should be proud of my body. Ako lang ang meron nito, di ba?

“So, ‘yun yung message na gusto din naming i-send as the new Sparkle 10 of Sparkle GMA, na huwag tayong mahiya sa katawan natin. Hindi ba? [This is] what makes us unique. Ito tayo, e. So, let’s be proud of it. Let’s be empowered.”

Lexi’s acting roots go way back in 2019 during the seventh season of “StarStruck” where she was named the First Princess. In 2023, she secured her first lead role in “Underage.”
