It’s been two months since Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez got married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family in Montecito, California. According to Ariana’s representative, fewer than 20 people were present at the event.
“It was tiny and intimate—less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”
However, the short list of attendees does not include Elizabeth Gillies, Ariana’s longtime friend and “Victorious” castmate. In an episode of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” Elizabeth revealed the reasons why.
The 28-year-old “Dynasty” actress said that she was invited—and of course wanted—to attend Ariana’s wedding. But because she wanted to keep the privacy of the event, she couldn’t even tell the reason why she had to take some days off of work.
She also noted that it would have taken her a week to be cleared to fly to California due to the pandemic. At that time, Elizabeth was in Atlanta, Georgia, where she films for her CW series.
“I could not get off of work to go to her wedding because we would have to be cleared for like seven days to fly,” she said.
“So not only could I not tell anybody, but I also couldn’t even ask for the day off and I couldn’t get the day off. I would have been there.”
Elizabeth and Ariana have been friends for over a decade already. The two starred in the Broadway musical “13” in 2008 and later on played the roles of Jade West and Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon series “Victorious,” which premiered in 2010. But even after their show ended, the two remained close friends.
“She’s like blood to me, she’s like my sister,” Elizabeth said. “So unless we have a massive falling out, nothing will be happening there. We lived together, I’ve known her since what feels like the beginning of time.”
