Ever wondered what Captain America speaking in Filipino sounds like?

Chris Evans, who is also well-known for his Marvel character Captain America, was speaking Filipino in an advertisement for a local telecommunications company.

Captain Ri had a go; now it’s Captain America’s turn to take a crack at saying a few Filipino phrases.

On Thursday, social media users were swoon at the sound of Chris Evans speaking Filipino in a local advertisement for Smart. In the clip, the “Avengers” star wore a sleek, all-black leather outfit, and rode a motorbike through a coastal highway and towards a cliff overlooking the sunset, all while a voiceover delivers a message of redemption.

After a lengthy monologue (which, of course, was spoken with the bravado of Captain America), viewers finally heard the tagline spoken by Evans in Filipino: “Simple, Smart ako.”

According to Philippine Star, the TVC was directed by Pascal Heiduk, a Los Angeles-based director whose commercial film work consists of top international brands such as Montblanc, BMW, Samsung, Nike, and Mercedes Benz. The ad, which was shot in Boston last January, was made possible by PublicityAsia Lead for Public Relations Joyce Ramirez, who sealed the partnership between Evans and the telecommunications giant. The PR agency was also the one who clinched BTS in a similar collaboration with the brand.

In a shorter clip by PublicityAsia, Evans is heard speaking a few more Filipino phrases like “Kamusta, Philippines?” and “Maraming salamat po!”

Ramirez shared that she was the one who coached Evans on enunciating the local language, and that Evans was pleasant to work with all throughout. In fact, the agency teases a second part of the TVC with more Filipino lines from the Hollywood hunk.

Come on, let’s hear him say “Mabuhay!” and that he loves adobo!
