“Mom, I just won an Oscar!” the actor says.

Quan went from a forgotten child actor to an Oscar winner during the Awards night. He is remembered from the ’80s films “Goonies” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” He thanked his mother and his wife who he says “month after month, year after year for 20 years told me that one day, my time will come.”

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. They beat other cinema luminaries such as Steven Spielberg, Martin McDonagh, and Todd Field.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” also won the Best Editing award, bringing its total to seven awards out of 11 nominations.

For those who haven’t seen the film, it follows an immigrant family grappling with conflicts, financial struggles, and a threat that travels multiple universes. It surpassed two blockbuster movies, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.”

Production reportedly cost around $25 million and earned roughly $108 million. With that, the project is a massive success story for the independent studio.

The movie’s success is a testament to the hard work and vision of everyone involved in its creation. The film has set standards for independent cinema, proving that small-budget films could captivate and move audiences.
